Artists and Performers

There were an array of artists and performers that were at the event including Lowkey, Al Zeytouna, Refeef Ziadah, Dam, Gazateam, Stormtrap and Habib Shehadeh Hana to name a few. They all gave spectacular performances.



Stranded, Love captured and At home were three photograph exhibitions highlighting life in Palestinian refugee camps. The photographs capture the love, strength, innocence and fighting spirit of the Palestinian people.


Celebrate Palestine: stories of the resistance was a free three day festival, that took part at SOAS, central London in March 2011.

The event celebrated Palestinian culture and offered a glimpse of the reality of the Palestinians’ struggle for freedom. People from all walks of life mobilized to share the history and stories of Palestinian resistance to Israeli apartheid, as well as the warmth and richness of Palestinian culture.

Eight films were shown at the festival. Penelope, 25 thousand tents, The land speaks Arabic, Not in our name, To my father, Shadow of absence, My simple story and Al Nakba.




Many artists and activists lead a series of interactive workshops for all ages including hip-hop, kite-making, calligraphy, poetry and dance workshops which were met with great interest.



A number of speakers including Karma Nablusi, the patron of the festival, academics, activists and students led discussions on various themes including BDS, The Right of Return and the Arab Revolutions and Palestine.
